Our family has known Dr. Cooney for a few years now. She took care of our two dachshunds before moving to Colorado. Christmas ’06 was a difficult time for our family because our beloved Greta was having uncontrollable seizures and we knew the end of her life was coming. Dr. Cooney came to our home and spent time with us, putting our minds at ease, and told us it was OK to let her go. She was suffering and we knew it was the right thing to do, but it was still so hard to say goodbye. Greta got a sedative and fell asleep in my arms. Dr. Cooney placed a catheter in her leg, and when we were ready, she gave the euthanasia solution. Greta died so peacefully and we were with her, talking to her and stroking her ears. Afterwards, Dr. Cooney made clay paw print of her front paw and stamped her name across the top. We will treasure that forever. Greta was buried under the big maple tree in our backyard. –Lisa Ott
